07/07/15 – Field Hockey Reminders and Training/Classroom Sessions

The rule books for Field Hockey were mailed to coaches and officials this past week.

The mandatory Online Rules Clinics in the sport of Field Hockey for coaches and officials will be available for viewing at no charge between August 10, 2015 and September 7, 2015.

• The Regional Tournaments will take place the week of October 18 through October 24.    
• Rule Books for Field Hockey were mailed the week of July 13 to all participating schools and officials.

Additional training/classroom session opportunities for officials and coaches in the sport of Field Hockey will be conducted this fall. Attendance at any of the sessions listed below will not take the place of the online clinic.

• Saturday July 25, 2015 at Trager Stadium at the University of Louisville at 5:00 p.m EST 
• Saturday August 1, 2015 at the Assumption Green at 11:00 a.m. EST.

There will also be classroom sessions for officials to discuss officiating techniques, rules, game management etc. These classroom sessions are designed to continue to train officials to increase their knowledge of the game as well as their officiating mechanics. The sessions will take place on the following dates:

• Saturday July 18, 2015 at Trager Stadium at the University of Louisville at 5:00 p.m. EST. . 
• The next session will take place the first week of August. Date, time, and location, to be announced at a later date. 

These meetings will be facilitated by Suzie Stammer and Mary Brainerd who will lead discussions about new rules as well as address any general questions anyone may have. All officials in the sport of Field Hockey must attend one of these two meetings to fulfill local association requirements and all coaches are encouraged to attend as well. Lastly, a training session for new officials will be conducted as a weekend class for new officials (August 14-16) in Cincinnati which could benefit all officials. Attendance at this session is for self improvement and will not count toward local meeting requirements or the state rules clinic requirement.
