For the fall of 2024, the KHSAA will again conduct a series of regional meetings to help our athletic administrators meet the membership requirement of attending this type of meeting once per year as well as provide continuous improvement hours for administrators. With the rapid turnover in athletic administrators and changes initiated by the General Assembly action, this year’s series of meetings continues to be very important.

Per the membership guidelines, attendance is required of each school but is no longer specific to the principal or principal certification. The Principal or the Designated Representative listed on the KHSAA website will count toward each requirement. Also, this workshop is on the list of those items that satisfy the requirements for the continuing improvement hours for each Athletic Director per Bylaw 25. There is no registration fee.

The content for the segments will include sessions on managing the coach and player data for your school, a review of the KHSAA Bylaws, an update on the operations and projects around the KHSAA and many required reports and functions. There will not be a session related to Title IX as there will be at least one additional meeting specific to Title IX later in the fall.

These meetings are being held at a time where feedback from the schools has shown they are a better educational opportunity. This should also help with the extreme turnover in athletic administrators and get these individuals more information earlier in the school year but after time for final appointments to the position(s) as many hires are ongoing.

These sessions will begin at 8 a.m. each day (registration is planned for 7:40) and continue through 12:30 p.m. This schedule continues to allow for the host school to easily accommodate the end of the school day, and for the attendees to get on the road and back to their schools.

A final schedule for each day will be sent to all registered attendees. This session would be invaluable for all Principals and ADs as they familiarize or re-familiarize themselves with the Bylaws, competition rules, online operations, and changes. We will be offering assistance with KHSAA rules and will be answering questions concerning paperwork, forms, requirements, etc., to help keep the communication lines between this office and our member schools open and informative.

A complete schedule is listed above. We hope you plan on attending or sending an administrator from your school to participate. Staff will again work hard to make this content-filled meeting worthwhile for all attendees and will post EILA credit to those who attend.

You may complete the registration form for this meeting BY CLICKING HERE ON THIS LINK. It is important that you register in advance so that we may be better prepared for your arrival.

We look forward to seeing you and if you have any questions about the process, please do not hesitate to contact me, or the Commissioner’s assistant, Sara McClain, by email (smcclain@khsaa.org) or phone (859) 299-5472.

* The Advance Athletic Administrators workshop will be held on a different date to be announced in the coming days. There will be additional information in a separate notice and registration about this meeting and out of respect for attendee time, the content will have minimal overlap with the regional meetings.
