11/29/22 – Esports Winter Championship Update & Spring Calendar
Teams participating in esports should mark their calendar for Friday, Dec. 16th, as the semifinals and finals in each state-sanctioned offering will be contested that day at the UKFCU Esports Lounge at The Cornerstone on UK’s campus.

Teams that qualify for the in-person event will be sent instructions to join a conference call on Monday, December 12 at 2 PM (ET). Event details including parking, check-in procedures, ticketing, and other pertinent information related to the event will be discussed during the call. Details about joining the call will be sent to participating coaches at a later date.
In addition, a tentative schedule for the 2023 spring season is included below to assist with planning purposes for the next season. The spring championship event will be held the week of April 24 with an exact date to be determined in the coming weeks.

11/21/22 – NFHS Part 2 Exam for Officials in BK, SW & WR Now Online
NFHS Part 2 Exams for licensed officials in the sports of Basketball, Swimming, and Wrestling are now available online.
The Part 2 Exams will be open until 11:59 p.m. (ET) based on the following schedules:
- Swimming & Diving: Monday, Jan. 23
- Wrestling: Monday, Jan. 30
- Basketball: Monday, Feb. 13
Login at https://officials.khsaa.org/authorize/ to take the test. A minimum score of 35 questions correct out of 50 is required for a passing score.
First-year officials are not required to take the exam, however, if any first-year official has completed licensing requirements, the test may be taken.
Any official determined to have been involved in the improper administration of the exam, including taking it for another official or having it taken by another official, will have the score disregarded for the year and be subject to other penalties in compliance with the jurisdiction of the office through the Federal Court Decree.

11/17/22- Rupp Arena Signs Multi-Year deal to Continue Partnership with KHSAA
Lexington, KY (November 17, 2022) – The OVG360 managed Rupp Arena is proud to partner with KHSAA to extend the contract to host KHSAA Boys Sweet 16 Tournament and KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 Tournament, keeping the tournament in Central KY for at least 3 more years. 11/16/22 – Board of Control Approves Items Passed at Annual Meeting, Distribution of Enrollment Information, Wrestling State First Round Site

The KHSAA Board of Control conducted its third regularly scheduled meeting of the 2022-23 academic year on Wednesday in Lexington, approving items passed at the 2022 Annual Meeting of Schools and the authorization to distribute enrollment information to be used in classification upon receipt from Kentucky Department of Education, as well as the recommendation for Atherton to host the 2023 Wrestling State First Round for Regions 1-4.
On Sept. 22, the KHSAA conducted its Annual Meeting at the Central Bank Center in Lexington. Delegates in attendance voted on proposals submitted by the Board for consideration, as required by 702 KAR 7:065 and the annual review of Association rules. 11/16/22 – Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Expands Partnership as Official Fuel of KHSAA

Clark’s Pump-N-Shop and the KHSAA announced Wednesday that they have expanded their existing partnership to make Clark’s Pump-N-Shop the Official Fuel of the KHSAA through 2025.
“The partnership with Clark’s Pump-N-Shop has been an exciting addition to the KHSAA’s central mission of providing a rewarding interscholastic experience for student-athletes across the Commonwealth,” said KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett. “We look forward to expanding our relationship with an organization so deeply rooted in Kentucky.”

11/16/22- Football Schools Reminded to Submit Spring Practice Date Options
Per KHSAA Bylaw 23, each school must submit its spring practice dates on or before December 15, 2022, for the spring, 2023 spring practice period. Failure to submit these dates by December 15, per the Bylaw, results in the school not being permitted to conduct spring practice.
Once submitted, these dates cannot be changed without the request of the member school Principal, and only then, to a period starting with the Monday following the last date of the originally adopted Spring Break for the school. There will be NO extensions due to coaching vacancies, etc. THE SETTING OF THESE DATES IS A FUNCTION OF SCHOOL CALENDAR AND NOT PERSONNEL IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE SPRING SPORTS CONFLICTS.

11/14/22- Information to Order Football Finals Tickets
It is again time for us to turn on orders for the 2022 UK HealthCare Sports Medicine State Football Finals.
Here are some notes about this year’s finals and ticket sales:
- The games will again be played at Kroger Field at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
- Advance ticket purchases INCLUDE parking charges. There will be no additional parking charge for those holding a pre-purchased ticket as any price is included in the ticket fee.
- All ticketing is digital-only through GoFan, the official ticket system for the KHSAA.
- There will be no walk-up cash option for purchasing tickets, the event is digital only!
- The schedule for this year’s event has games scheduled as follows (All times Eastern):

11/15/22 – UK Healthcare Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Seeks Nominations for Kentucky Comeback Athlete of the Year Award
For the seventh year, UK Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, through its partnership with the KHSAA, seeks nominations for the Kentucky Comeback Athlete of the Year, meeting the following criteria:
- The nominee must have overcome illness or injury that affected their ability to participate in KHSAA-sanctioned sports.
- The nominee must have returned to their sport(s) and demonstrated excellence and achievement beyond expectations.
- The student-athlete must consistently demonstrate good sportsmanship and ethical behavior on and off the playing field.
- The nominee must be in verified good academic standing with their school.
- The student must have participated and been a member of an athletic team during the 2021-22 academic year.
- Nominations should be submitted by January 31, 2023, to the KHSAA via form GE36 at http://khsaa.org/ge36-uk-healthcare-comeback-athlete-of-the-year/.

Each year, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association honors the top officials for the 10 sports in which it licenses officials. Finalists in each sport are selected through a combination of not only on-field performance but local association activity and leadership, training efforts and the mentoring of newer officials.
One official in each sport is named “Outstanding Official of the Year” for their sport in appreciation of their dedication and service to schools and student-athletes across the state. Winners are selected following consultation with local assigning secretaries, veteran officials’ observers, coaches throughout the state and additional staff review.
The Outstanding Official of the Year for the 2022-23 volleyball season is Bill Renzi of Russell. Each finalist will receive a commemorative watch and certificate courtesy of the Officials Division Trust Fund, with the Official of the Year receiving an additional recognition award.

The number of qualifiers for each region and each division of Competitive Cheer is released in this notice. Statewide declarations supported the divisions with more than 16 participating schools entered to be pro-rated by region so as not to penalize larger regions. Any division with less than 16 entries will advance to the KHSAA State Championships provided each squad competes at the region event. For the third consecutive year, the final rounds of the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament Presented by UK HealthCare will wrap up at George Rogers Clark in Winchester. Cardinal Arena will host four quarterfinal matches on Thursday, Nov. 3, followed by the semifinals and final on Friday, Nov. 4.
Tickets for each match are available online only and can be purchased in advance at khsaatickets.org.
Play begins Thurdsay at noon ET when McCracken County and Bowling Green take the court, followed by Paul Laurence Dunbar vs. Boyd County at 2 p.m., Whitley County vs. Notre Dame at 5 p.m. and Mercy vs. Assumption bringing the night to a close at 7 p.m.
Friday’s semifinals will be played at noon and 2 p.m., with the championship match scheduled for 7 p.m. that night.
