2013 Leachman Buick•GMC•Cadillac/KHSA Golf State Championships This Week
The KHSAA will award its first state championship trophies of the 2013-14 season this week when the 2013 Leachman Buick•GMC•Cadillac/KHSAA Golf State Championships visit the Bowling Green Country Club. The boys’ championship (Oct. 7-9) will start off the week with a practice round on Monday. First Round play will begin at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, with the final round beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Live scoring for both tournaments will be available through GolfStat.com, with the boys’ results available at:

The practice round for the girls’ championship (Oct. 10-12) will take place on Thursday, followed by first round play at 7 a.m. on Friday. Saturday’s championship round will begin at 8 a.m. Live scoring for the girls’ tournament can be found at:

09/30/13 – Golf Regionals Underway; KHSAA To Honor Past Championship Teams

Golf Regionals Monday and Tuesday; Leachman/KHSAA State Golf Championship Next Week
Golfers from around the state will vie for a spot in the first state championship event of the 2013-14 season as regionals are held Monday (boys) and Tuesday (girls) throughout the Commonwealth. The 2013 Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf Championships will take place next week at the Bowling Green Country Club. The boys’ championship will be held Oct. 7-9, followed by the girls’ event Oct. 10-12.
Results from the regionals will be posted to the golf home page at KHSAA.org as soon as they become available. Pairings and tee times will also be available online, with live scoring for the events available through GolfStat.com.

Current Alignment – Golf
The Kentucky High School Athletic Association shall sponsor postseason competition in golf for boys and girls, provided that ten (10) percent of the member schools declare intentions to participate in said competition. Member schools desiring to participate in KHSAA sponsored postseason competition shall notify the Association office prior to September 1. The Commissioner shall divide the state into geographic sections with the approval of the Board of Control. Newly added or deleted programs will be handled on a case by case basis by the Commissioner’s office.
As of August 15, 2013, the alignment for boys’ golf is as follows —

5/28/13 – Golf Distance Measure Devices and Voice Communication Devices
Distance-Measuring Devices:
For all KHSAA postseason competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a distance-measuring device that shall be capable of measuring distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect play (e.g., gradient/slope, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification. This penalty is to be imposed whether or not any such additional function is actually used. NOTE: The restriction on the use of distance-measuring devices that are capable of measuring anything but distance will be reiterated in the published instructions and KHSAA hard card, and golfers directed to not use any of the restricted devices while they are on the course. Helpful information concerning the use of these devices can be found on the KHSAA web site at http://khsaa.org/golf/, and then click General Information.

LEACHMAN BUICK-GMC-CADILLAC/KHSAA STATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS WEEK
Bowling Green will be the center of the Commonwealth’s high school golf activity this week as boys’ and girls’ individual and team champions will be crowned. For the seventh consecutive year the Bowling Green Country Club will play host to the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf Championships.
Following a practice round on Monday, the girls’ tournament begins at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, with an 8 a.m. tee time scheduled for Wednesday. The boys’ practice round will take place on Thursday, followed by a 36-hole tournament on Friday and Saturday. Tee times for the boys be at 7 a.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday.

08/17/12 – Online Clinic Deadline
The last day to complete the online rules clinic for coaches in the sport of golf without a fine is August 22, 2012. If you have already completed the clinic, please disregard this message.
Athletic Directors may check attendance by going to the school login page and viewing their “maintain school personnel” page to be sure. Coaches need to check with their Athletic Directors if there is any question about the completion of this requirement (see your AD for verification). For those coaches who have not taken the rules clinic: The rules clinic remains free online through midnight Eastern Time on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. You will need to login at http://schools.khsaa.org/authorize/login.php?url=/index.html to view the clinic. After August 22, the clinic will be available online but only with the payment of a fine. 08/15/12 – Reminder about Rosters and Stats
Now that contests have been completed and individual statistics can be entered, there are steps to be taken to open and initialize rosters. This step was clearly detailed in the August 7 blog entry available at http://khsaa.org/87-2012-2013-rosters-available-to-be-opened-and-edited/. Your AD will need to follow these steps prior to the entry of new players or editing of the current roster. All of this has to be done before stats can be entered on a game-by-game basis.
The first week of volleyball statistics will be published on Thursday, Aug. 23.
The first week of soccer statistics will be published on Thursday, Aug. 30
The first week of football statistics will be published on Thursday, Sept. 6

Any and all distance measuring devices are not allowed during the regular season and post season for 2012-2013. Please feel free to contact Darren Bilberry at the KHSAA if you have any additional questions.
