06/21/12 Registration Deadline and Uniform Update
We wanted to remind you all that the deadline to register “on time” is midnight on June 30, 2012.
If you do not meet the “on time” registration deadline it means a couple of things:
1) you will be charges a $25 late fee to register after June 30
2) you will not be eligible for post season assignments
Uniform transition period has been extended:
Due to issues we had with the transition of our licensing policy, we decided to move our implementation of the uniform requirements back a year.
The following uniform and embroidery requirements are now accurate:
1) Embroidered logo is required for state championship officials in fall of 2012-2013, but optional at all other levels.
2) Embroidered logo is required for all postseason competition in 2013-2014, but optional during the regular season.

6/20/12 – Update on Score Sheets/Regionals
1) We are in the final stages of having our score sheet for next year. Our Rules and Judges Committee has met once to work on a draft and has one more meeting to finalize the document. Once finalized, we will post on the KHSAA website as quickly as possible.
2) Our Regional Site Selection Committee will be meeting with you locally soon (if they haven’t already) to begin working to select a Regional Competition Manager and a date/site. The window for Regional Competition is Dec. 1-Jan. 19. Schools will have to declare to the KHSAA office by Nov. 15 what Division (Small, Medium, Large, Super-Large, Coed) they will compete in at Region/State. We will post the Regions Dates/Sites once finalized. We realize there are some outside competition dates set, but priority should be the KHSAA Regional Competition.

6/5/12 – Dead Period Reminder – Coaches Involvement
This is a reminder to all coaches (head and assistant) ….with regard to the KHSAA Dead Period. We recently became aware that AAU Junior Volleyball Championships will be held June 23-27 in Orlando (15U-18U age groups) ….please be advised that all high school coaches (head and assistant) are not permitted to be in attendance during the KHSAA Dead Period which is June 25-July 9 (inclusive)….unless the coach has a son or daughter playing in the specific game, coaches may not be in attendance during the dead period ….or be with the students at all during the dead period if play by the students …or coaching by the coach is involved ….high school coaches may not assist with travel to or from with HS team members during the period….

Welcome to the KHSAA Officials Blog.
We hope this this becomes a new and easy way to share information with all of our officials in a more relaxed manner. This blog will allow us to share information with all of you about items that concern officials or issues that concern the schools. You can join by choosing “follow this blog” or “follow by email” on the tabs on the right side of the page.
Though many of you are “one sport” officials, it is important for you to know what is going on across the board with all of our officials. Many times you many think a situation is “sport specific” but you would be surprised at the incidents that cross sport specific lines.
We hope that you all are working hard to improve your skills over the summer by attending your local association training and meetings and/or going to camps.

06/01/12 – State Meet Follow Up/Pole Vault Pole
Congratulations to all athletes, schools, and coaches on a great meet. We were especially thankful for the great weather and the fantastic fan support for all of the athletes. We appreciate those of you have shared your feedback about the event and will continue to work hard to continually improve.
*There was a pole vault pole left at the University of Louisville and we have it hear in our office. Please contact me to identify and claim the pole.
