03/30/15-DRAFT Information Regarding Emergency Policy Changes, Football Practice Limitation Changes Due to Concussion Recommendations from NFHS DRAFT NOT FINAL ADOPTED LANGUAGE
This is intended to update the membership about ongoing work by the Board of Control and the Commissioner’s office in response to the NFHS recommendations on football practice that were released to the KHSAA in November. It was important that the information be comprehensive, thorough and in somewhat final form in order to ensure consistent messaging and eliminate misinformation where possible, therefore it is only now in a final form for distribution.
Following the receipt of the report, the information was distributed to the KHSAA Board of Control members and placed on the agenda for its November, 2014 meeting for a brief discussion and background. At that meeting, staff was asked to review the information with various football constituent groups, including the Commissioner’s Advisory Committee on Football, and to try and determine best practices going forward. Clearly, the recommendations were a call for action in many areas and required immediate changes in the way Kentucky schools […]

Over the course of her many years of faithful service, Sallee reported directly to DeVries, Roland Williams, Darren Bilberry and Angela Passafiume.

03/19/15 – Statement on Passing of Ira Combs
Commissioner Julian Tackett issued the following statement upon the death of Ira Combs-
“Ira Combs was a larger than life figure whose regular appearance at the Sweet 16 was a source of personal pride, as was his legendary work with the Joe B. Hall Classic and other high school events on an annual basis. His year-round work supporting the mountain schools, and all KHSAA schools, as well as his beloved UK Wildcats was truly a labor of love. Just yesterday, Ira stopped by press row and commented favorably on the revised press row setup, while leaving me with another commemorative pin. His passing is further proof that life is fragile and you should cherish every moment. To his beloved Dilce Combs brethren and his brothers and entire extended family, we offer our sympathies and prayers. RIP Ira.”

03/06/15 – Clarification Regarding Bass Fishing State Tournament
This message is to clarify the date of the State Tournament for the sport activity of Bass Fishing. As posted on the KHSAA website and in one of the slides on the Online Rules Clinic, the date of the Bass Fishing State Tournament is May 15th and 16th at Kentucky Lake. During the video introduction in the clinic the date of the State Tournament is erroneously stated as being on May 8th and 9th. The link below that was posted in September and the slide on the rules clinic have the correct dates of May 15th and 16th. Sorry for the confusion.
