10/27/22 – Cross Country State Championships to Be Held at Bourbon County XC Course
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: OCT. 27, 2022
For the third year in a row, the KHSAA Cross Country State Championships Presented by UK HealthCare will be held at the Bourbon County XC Course in Paris. Fans can purchase digital tickets for each class of races at khsaatickets.org, while live streaming through KYtrackXC and the NFHS Network will also be available on a subscription basis.
The two-day format returns with the 2A meet kicking things off at 4 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 28. Racing continues on Saturday with the 1A meet at 10 a.m., followed by the 3A meet at 3 p.m.

10/25/22 – Soccer State Tournaments to Conclude This Week at Frederick Douglass

The semifinal and final rounds of the 2022 KHSAA Soccer State Tournaments Presented by UK HealthCare will come to an end this week at Frederick Douglass in Lexington.
The girls’ tournament will kick things off on Wednesday, Oct. 26, when 5th Region champion Elizabethtown (21-4-3) meets 12th Region champion West Jessamine (12-8-2) at 4 p.m. ET.
Region 8 champion South Oldham (21-2) will face Region 11 champion Lexington Catholic (26-1) in Wednesday’s nightcap at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday’s winners will battle for the state championship crown on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 4 p.m.
The boys’ tournament will resume Thursday, Oct. 27, as 7th Region champion St. Xavier (23-1-3) takes on 4th Region champion Bowling Green (19-2) at 4 p.m.
Region 11 champion Paul Laurence Dunbar (17-2-3) will close weekday competition against Region 9 champion Ryle (19-4-2) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

First and foremost, we would like to thank the regional hosts for all of their hard work and the success of the regionals this past weekend. 10/25/22 – NFHS Understanding Copyright & Compliance Course Required for Cheer & Dance Coaches
This is a reminder that all KHSAA Cheer and Dance Coaches (Head and Assistant, paid or unpaid) must complete the NFHS Music Copyright Course “Understanding Copyright and Compliance”. This course is free and 100% online and is required whether or not a team competes in KHSAA competition. This course from the NFHS is geared toward music teachers, spirit coaches (cheer and dance) and school administrators. Understanding Copyright and Compliance is available through the NFHS Learning Center at www.NFHSLearn.com.
The course explores copyright laws and how those laws impact the interscholastic community and the course was produced with the assistance of NAME (National Association for Music Education) and USA Cheer. It also expands on topics such as fair use, public domain, copyright infringement penalties and much more. 10/23/22 – 2022 State Cross Country Qualifiers
The regional results for Cross Country and the 2022 KHSAA State Qualifiers have been posted on the KHSAA website.
Changes may occur as coaches and officials have an opportunity to double-check both the performance list and the roster by school for accuracy. An email will be sent once all changes are made, and final performance lists and lane assignments are available.
Each school should review their student-athletes and let us know immediately of any necessary changes (i.e. misspelling of names, incorrect grade, etc.) by emailing us at xc@khsaa.org. It is important that you send corrections to xc@khsaa.org to ensure all parties are aware of the changes.
The deadline for corrections is Monday, October 24 at 9:00 a.m. (Eastern).

10/22/22 – Field Hockey State Tournament to Conclude at Christian Academy-Louisville
The semifinals of the ninth annual KHSAA Field Hockey State Tournament Presented by UK HealthCare are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, at Christian Academy-Louisville.
The first match, featuring Christian Academy-Louisville vs. Assumption, is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET. The winner of Saturday’s second match, pitting Sacred Heart vs. DuPont Manual at 7:30 p.m., will face the winner of the first in the state championship final on Monday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m. on the same field.
Tickets for all three matches are available solely on a digital basis and can be purchased at khsaatickets.org.
Each match can be streamed live on khsaa.tv. Subscription plans to the NFHS Network are available for $11.99 per month. There’s an unfortunate trend continuing in Kentucky and across the nation that must be stopped: the bad behavior of coaches, parents and fans at high school athletic events. When this campaign was first proposed, there were several sounding the alarm. But here in Kentucky, we find the problem particularly growing right now. Fall sports are in the later rounds or late parts of their season. People get particularly negative when their team has their season end, even when clearly the superior team was victorious. so let’s take a deep breath and reset.

10/17/22 – KHSAA to Host a Middle School Athletic Administrators Workshop
The KHSAA will again host a workshop specifically designed for Middle School Athletic Administrators (ADs). The workshop is scheduled to be held at the Hilton Lexington/Downtown, 369 W Vine St, on Thursday, November 10. The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. and should conclude by 12:00. There is no fee to register. Parking will be in the parking garage for the Hilton and parking tickets will be validated at the meeting.

10/17/22 – Separate Licensing and Testing Created for Diving for 2022-23
Effective with the 2022-2023 school year, Diving will now be a separate license for officials and a separate version of the NFHS testing used for the KHSAA Part 1 and Part 2 tests.
- The NFHS Exam has been split into two distinct exams, one for Diving and one for Swimming.
- In addition, there will now be two separate licenses within the KHSAA officials licensing system.
- Licensing fees for a swimming only license will be a $20 sport fee and Diving will now be a $10 sport fee. Each official will continue to pay only one admin fee ($40) for the entire year regardless of the number of sports when applying for the license.
This move by the NFHS and the KHSAA follows years of input from within our state that called for this focus on diving, as well as responding to national and state trends due to the unique nuances relative to Diving. […]

KDA-KHSAA partnership to award six scholarships to Kentucky student-athletes
Kentucky student-athletes who are involved in agriculture are invited to apply for one of six scholarships and recognition as a 2023 Kentucky Ag Athlete of the Year.
The program is a partnership of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA).
“Athletics and agriculture have a lot in common. They both teach the value of effort, discipline, and teamwork,” Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Ryan Quarles said. “We are pleased to join our partners at the KHSAA for the fifth year to reward the Commonwealth’s best young athletes and agriculturists. We hope these scholarships help cover the ever-rising cost of higher education for those striving for excellence in athletics and agriculture.”

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, the pairings for the 2022 KHSAA Field Hockey, Soccer and Volleyball State Tournaments Presented by UK HealthCare will be revealed during the annual Fall Championship Draw Show at 2 p.m. ET. The show will be broadcast live online by KHSAA.tv through the NFHS Network from the KHSAA office.
The 2022 KHSAA Field Hockey State Tournament will begin on Thursday, Oct. 20, with quarterfinal games being played on campus sites. Play continues with the semifinals and championship on Saturday, Oct. 22, and Monday, Oct. 24, at Christian Academy-Louisville.

The KHSAA is excited to open the nomination process for the Midway University/KHSAA Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year among Football participants for 2022-2023 Midway University previously expanded its partnership to include both male and female nominations.
This award is based on athletic and academic achievement as well as community service and leadership. The link to the application contains additional criteria and a form to nominate one participant from each 2022-2023 team. Nominations must come from a member school, but can be submitted by an administrator, guidance counselor, or coach. The winner will be announced early in the postseason and current plans call for the winners to be recognized at an awards banquet at Midway University in early summer 2023. 2022 Title IX Workshops
As discussed during the Regional Meetings, the KHSAA will be conducting two Title IX Workshops during the month of October for 2022-23. All member schools are encouraged to attend to gain valuable information in regard to opportunities and benefits, gauging student interests from survey results, completing the Annual Report, preparing for a site visit, and conducting Gender Equity Review Committee meetings.
The first meeting will be on Tuesday morning, October 25 at the Logan County Career & Technical Center in Russellville at 8:00 a.m. Central Time. The second will be on Wednesday morning, October 26 at the KHSAA offices in Lexington at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time. This meeting will count for four hours of the hours required for the Athletic Director continual improvement in Bylaw 25.

The state championship slate for the 2022-23 academic year will crown its first champions with the finals of the 2022 Leachman Buick•GMC•Cadillac Golf State Championships Presented by UK HealthCare this week at the Bowling Green Country Club. This is the 17th consecutive season the KHSAA has brought its championships to the club. The boys’ tournament is up first with the opening round at 8 a.m. CT on Tuesday, Oct. 4, followed by the final round starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Girls’ action begins on Friday, Oct. 7, with championship play wrapping up on Saturday, Oct. 8.
Tickets are required for all spectators at this year’s tournaments and are available online only at khsaatickets.org. There will be no on-site cash or credit card sales, and fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance to expedite the admission process.
