As you plan for spring events in 2026, and particularly as you begin to discuss the timing of end-of-year activities such as graduations and other celebrations, we would like to remind schools about the postseason dates for spring sports. Please ensure that all parties involved in planning special dates, such as spring activities, are aware of the postseason dates. This awareness should help fans, coaches, and administrators avoid scheduling conflicts.

ARCHERY

  • Staff Contact: Assistant Commissioner Abby Jackson (ajackson@khsaa.org)
  • Regional Tournament Window: March 9 – April 11
  • State Tournament: April 21 (tentative)
    • The State Archery Tournament is tentatively scheduled to be held at Central Bank Center, Lexington.

ESPORTS

  • Staff Contact: Information Technology Director Rob Catron (rcatron@khsaa.org)
  • Esports playoffs begin the week of April 6.  Titles Include:
    • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
    • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
    • Splatoon 3
    • Madden NFL 26
    • Rocket League
    • Street Fighter 6
  • Spring Esports In-Person State Championships: April 23
    • The State Finals will be held at the UKFCU Esports Lounge, located in the Cornerstone on the University of Kentucky’s campus, Lexington

BASS FISHING 

  • Staff Contact: Assistant Commissioner Joe Angolia (jangolia@khsaa.org)
  • Regional Tournaments: April 25
  • State Championships: May 8 – 9
    • State Bass Fishing will be held at Kentucky Dam Village, Gilbertsville.

LACROSSE

  • Staff Contact: Assistant Commissioner Abby Jackson (ajackson@khsaa.org)
  • District Tournament (formally known as the Regional Tournament): May 8-11
    • May begin early by mutual agreement within the regions
    • Alignments will remain the same as last year, but they will now be referred to as “Districts.” For example, if you were in Region 1 last year, you are now in District 1.
  • Regional Rounds (formally state first and second rounds): May 13-16
    • May begin early by mutual agreement within the regions
  • State Semifinals: May 18-19 
    • Boys’ semifinals currently scheduled for May 18 at TBD
    • Girls’ semifinals currently scheduled for May 19 at TBD
  • State Finals: May 20
    • Finals for both boys’ and girls’ lacrosse will be held at TBD

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

  • Staff Contact: Senior Associate Commissioner Butch Cope (bcope@khsaa.org)
  • Region Tournament: May 4-9
    • May begin early by mutual agreement within the region
  • State First Round: May 11
    • State First Round will be May 11, unless mutually agreed by both teams for May 10
  • Quarterfinals, Semifinals & Finals: May 15-16
    • Quarterfinal, Semifinal, and Final rounds will be held at George Rogers Clark High School, Winchester

TRACK & FIELD

  • Staff Contact: Assistant Commissioner Sarah Bridenbaugh (sbridenbaugh@khsaa.org)
  • Region Meets: May 8 – May 16
    • May begin early by mutual agreement within the region
    • No regular season meets after the completion of respective regional
  • State Meet: May 21 (Class 1A), May 22 (Class 2A) and May 23 (Class 3A)
    • The State Meet will be held at the University of Kentucky, Lexington

TENNIS

  • Staff Contact: Assistant Commissioner Joe Angolia (jangolia@khsaa.org)
  • Subject to change pending final review by the Board of Control in January.
  • Region Tournaments: May 4 – May 20
  • State Tennis (Indiv./Doubles) and Team Tennis: TBD due to revisions.

SOFTBALL/BASEBALL

  • Staff Contact Baseball: Senior Associate Commissioner Butch Cope (bcope@khsaa.org)
  • District Tournaments: May 17 – 23
    • May begin early by mutual agreement within the district
  • Region Tournaments: May 24 – 30 
    • Local discretion on scheduling, all regions must be complete by May 30.
  • State First Round & Quarterfinals: June 4-6
  • State Semifinals and Finals: June 12-13
    • State Softball will be held at John Cropp Stadium at the University of Kentucky, Lexington. 
    • State Baseball will be held at Kentucky Proud Park at the University of Kentucky, Lexington.

About the Kentucky High School Athletic Association

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association was organized in 1917 and is the agency designated by the Kentucky Department of Education to manage high school athletics in the Commonwealth. The Association is a voluntary nonprofit 501(c)3 organization made up of 289 member schools, both public and non-public. The KHSAA awards 229 state championships to 72 teams and 270 individuals in 21 sports and six sport-activities, funds catastrophic insurance coverage for its more than 109,000 rostered member school student-athletes, provides coaching education and sports safety programs for more than 12,000 coaches and licenses and facilitates the distribution of training material for over 4,000 contest officials.
