DUE BY FRIDAY, MAY 6, 2022. You will receive weekly reminders about submission.

Every three years, per adopted policy (and state regulation), the KHSAA surveys the membership as to the desire to expand sports offerings. In this manner, the staff and Board of Control can continue to be proactive in offering new opportunities or assessing the satisfaction of its membership with the current offerings.

The Board of Control adopted policy states that the Board will consider sponsoring a championship in a sport where 50 of the members desire a tournament conducted and when those schools are in at least three geographically bounded basketball regions. There is no guarantee of the sanctioning and championship play, but that threshold does allow for discussion.

Please complete the required survey at https://schools.khsaa.org/ge81-khsaa-triennial-sports-offering-survey-2021-2022/ on or before Friday, May 6, 2022, to assist in the determination of future offerings by the Association. This survey will help determine the sports or sport-activities offered by the Association in which your school would likely participate if the KHSAA were to begin or continue sponsoring championship play.

You will need to be logged in to the KHSAA school subdomain to complete the survey and should be requested to log in by clicking on the link. To access the survey, click the link in the email or blog post, or log in to the school system at https://schools.khsaa.org/, and click on KHSAA Forms and Reports, General Forms, and select form GE81.

The survey is in five essential parts.

  • The first deals with Adapted Sports, which are for students with physical disabilities (generally defined only as those with physical disabilities that must participate in a wheelchair). This section includes sports and sport-activities from the NFHS Annual Participation Survey, which gathers data from around the country. An answer is required for each listed sport, and accuracy is critical.
  • The second is for Unified Sports. Unified competition is for students with intellectual disabilities that you desire to pair with students without intellectual disabilities in a Unified competition format with an interest in interscholastic competition in specific events. This section includes sports and sport-activities from the NFHS Annual Participation Survey, which gathers data from around the country. An answer is required for each listed sport, and accuracy is critical.
  • The third part asks about your school and its intentions related to sports and sport-activities that in some shape, form or fashion are already KHSAA sponsored. This section has specific opportunities for data gathering regarding Lacrosse, female wrestling, team vs. team tennis, and other frequently discussed topics. An answer is required for each listed sport, and accuracy is critical.
  • The fourth part asked about sports and sport-activities sponsored in other states or state associations, but the KHSAA does not currently have them as part of its offerings. This section includes sports and sport-activities from the NFHS Annual Participation Survey, which gathers data from around the country. An answer is required for each listed sport, and accuracy is critical.
  • The final portion is two specific questions surrounding current KHSAA championships, Track and Field and Wrestling. Member schools frequently ask these questions about “why?” and “why not?” and it is essential to get member feedback.

This survey is not binding, and there are no sanctions any school would face by “changing its mind” after submitting the survey. We also realize that other factors would be considered before final implementation.
