With the Kentucky Department of Education’s statewide ACT test date being set at this time for Tuesday, March 18th, we want to make sure our member schools understand our commitment to their academic success. The KHSAA Archery State Championships are held in conjunction with the National Archery in Schools Program Championships at this present time because of their ability to acquire the needed facilities and necessary targets for such a large event. With that said, the KHSAA Championships will be held on the first day of the two-day KYNASP archery event being held on the 17th and 18th of March.

To alleviate any confusion over the dates and times for this year’s state Archery Championships, please make note that the KHSAA competition will take place on Monday, March 17th. The first flight will begin at 3 p.m. local time and the last KHSAA competitors will shoot at 6 p.m. Any of those KHSAA schools who have also entered the KYNASP event for Tuesday will have their scores from Monday’s shoot count toward that organization’s championship as well. So, any individual that competes on Monday will still be in contention for any awards the KYNASP organization gives including individual scholarship awards. The KHSAA awards ceremony is scheduled to take place following the 6 o’clock flight on Monday. This was done to allow schools to travel to and from Louisville on the day of the event, which should minimize the disruption to the normal school day. We are also analyzing our current partnership with the NASP program and the possibility of moving our championship to sometime after the traditional spring break period for next year. We would hope this would benefit our member schools with regard to testing windows.
