01/28/15 – Board of Control Approves Revised Archery Competition Rules and Alignment for 2015
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 28, 2015
The KHSAA Board of Control finalized competition rules and a new alignment for the sport-activity of Archery in a meeting at the Association’s headquarters on Wednesday morning. After extensive review, the newly approved competition rules for Archery, which include the elimination of charging competitors to compete at tournaments and the desire to conduct an autonomous state championship, will go into effect this season.

The 2015 KHSAA Archery State Championship will be held Thursday, April 23rd at the Kentucky Basketball Academy in Lexington.

11/17/14-Swimming Draft Alignment Information and Opportunity for Feedback
For several meetings, the Board of Control has been conducting discussions and working with staff on finalizing a draft alignment of schools to being with the 2015-16 School year for the sport of swimming. The Board has authorized the Commissioner to release a tentative draft of schools divided into regions.
The draft alignment is listed at http://khsaa.org/111714-draft-swimming-alignment-for-2015-16/. You may submit your comments concerning the alignment through the link listed in the notification email to schools. More information will be added to the website (www.khsaa.org) about the realignment on the Swimming page.

09/15/14 – Swimming and Diving Rules Clinic Now Online
The mandatory online KHSAA Rules Clinic for the sport of Swimming and Diving is now online for all coaches (head and assistant) and licensed officials.
HEAD AND ASSISTANT COACHES
- September 15 to November 30 – the Swimming and Diving Clinic will be online only and may be viewed at no charge during this period.
- December 1 to January 18 – the Swimming and Diving Clinic will be online only and may be viewed for the makeup fee ($100) during this period.
- January 19 to February 8 – the Swimming and Diving Clinic will be online only and may be viewed for the makeup fee ($300) per the Bylaw 27 schedule during this period.
- After February 8, postseason penalties per Bylaw 27 will apply.
LICENSED OFFICIALS
- September 15 to November 23 – the Swimming and Diving Clinic will be online only and may be viewed at no charge during this period.

08/16/14 – Reminder about Carryover Ejections from 2013-2014
In several unfortunate situations each year, coaches or athletes with eligibility remaining are ejected near the end of the season, or near the end of the season for violations of Bylaw 15, Sportsmanships. Please note that when that happens, the penalty carries to the next year if the student-athlete remains enrolled, and to the new school if the coach changes jobs/schools.
Please note all rules related to player/coach ejections, including the provisions for varsity and non-varsity ejections, are listed at http://khsaa.org/dq-policy-on-reinstatement-of-disqualified-apolicy-on-reinstatement-of-disqualified-athletes-coaches/, and a complete list from 2013-2014 is listed on the KHSAA website at http://khsaa.org/dq_list_public/. You will need to review this listing to ensure that you properly require athletes and coaches to miss the required contests if in fact they were ejected.
Also note that being ineligible for scrimmages (sitting out) does NOT satisfy any penalty, such must be served at the varsity contest level.

03/31/14 – Important Survey Available Concerning Swimming Facilities
It has been nearly twenty years since a complete facility inventory/assessment has been conducted in our state regarding competitive swimming pools and available resources for high school competitions. As swimming continues to grow, it is important that we have accurately identified the location of all of the competitive swimming facilities available to KHSAA member schools.
With that in mind, we are asking one person from each school to complete the online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/20132014swimdive on or before Monday, April 21, 2014. The data will be used for future research into regional site selection, alignment of teams and the maintenance and growth of the sport.

02/26/14 – 2014 KHSAA Swimming and Diving Championships Begin Thursday Night
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: FEBRUARY 26, 2014The 2014 KHSAA Swimming and Diving State Championships take place this week (Feb. 27-March 1) at the Ralph Wright Natatorium on the University of Louisville’s campus. The state meet opens Thursday night with the boys’ diving preliminary competition at 6 p.m.
Friday’s competition starts with the boys’ swimming prelims at 10 a.m., with tickets going on sale to the public at 9 a.m. Tickets to the second session will go on sale at 2:30 p.m., with the girls’ swimming prelims starting at 3:30 p.m. The girls’ diving prelims will bring the day’s action to a close at 6:30 p.m.

02/25/14 – Changes to Friday’s Warm-up Schedule for State Swimming and Diving
There have been some adjustments made for both the boys and girls warm-up times on Friday, February 28 on the Time Schedule for the 2014 KHSAA Swimming and Diving State Championships. Due to the decrease in the amount of deck space where diving is taped for All-American consideration, credentials will be required for those wishing to be on deck to videotape the diving sessions. Anyone wishing to access the deck during these sessions will be required to go to the team check-in/media check-in entrance each day to request their credentials. There will be a different color credential for each day and this credential will allow these individuals on deck only during the diving sessions of the meet. Coaches who are aware of anyone that plans on videotaping the diving sessions should share this information with those individuals.
02/25/14 – Updated Parking Information for State Swimming and Diving
Due to additional facilities that have been added to the University of Louisville’s campus over the past year, the “P” parking lot that is normally used for the KHSAA Swimming and Diving State Championships no longer exists. As a result parking lot “A” will now be utilized as the primary lot for free general parking. More specific information in regards to parking for the state meet can be viewed by going to the following link on the KHSAA website:

The KHSAA State Swimming and Diving Seeding Meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, February 17, 2014 6:00 p.m. at the KHSAA office.
02/15/14 – Swimming And Diving Region 4 Update
The Region 4 Swimming and Diving meet has been cancelled for Saturday, Feb. 15. The meet will be held on Sunday, Feb. 16 with the following schedule:
Region 4
Plan C
If events had to be cancelled all day Saturday, the same swimming schedule for Saturday would then be moved to Sunday, February 16.
Diving will begin at 10:00 a.m.
The boys’ timed finals will begin at 2:00 p.m.
The girls’ timed finals will begin at 6:45 p.m.
02/14/14 – Swimming and Diving Updates for Regions 2 and 4
The following are updates from the Regional Managers for Regions 2 and 4 in regards to their Regional Meet Schedules:
Region 2
The meet will be a timed final on Saturday, February 15
The girls’ warm up will be at 11:00 a.m. and the meet will start at 12:00 p.m.
The boys’ warm ups will be at 5:00 p.m. and the meet will start at 6:00 p.m.
Region 4
Plan A
The meet will be a timed final on Saturday, February 15
Diving will begin at 10:00 a.m.
The boys’ timed finals will begin at 2:00 p.m.
The girls’ timed finals will begin at 6:45 p.m.
Plan B
If morning travel is difficult due to inclement weather, diving will be postponed until Sunday. The swimming schedule for Saturday would remain the same.

Due to inclement weather there have been some delays, postponements, and cancellations of some of our Swimming and Diving Regional competitions that were scheduled for today. The following is the current status of each region.
Region 1 – The Regional Meet scheduled to begin today at the Owensboro Health Park will proceed on its regular schedule. The boys’ warm ups will begin at 9:30 a.m. CST and the meet will begin at 11:00 a.m. CST.
Region 2 – The preliminaries scheduled for today at the University of Louisville Natatorium will NOT occur today. Makeup plans are being finalized for Saturday, February 15 and possibly Sunday, February 16.
Region 3 – The Regional Meet scheduled to begin today at the Russell County ANC will proceed on its regular schedule. Warm ups will begin at 10:00 a.m. EST and the meet will begin at 12:30 p.m. EST.

Through a new venture launched prior to the start of the 2013-14 season, the KHSAA has transitioned its online video broadcast network (KHSAA.tv) to an internal operation through a new partnership with First String Media and PrepSpin.com. After outsourcing its championship webcasts in previous seasons, this year’s championship events will feature live video streaming and highlight packages produced internally through the new partnership. Live video streaming, archived broadcasts and highlight packages will remain free of charge through the Association’s website.
KHSAA.org will remain the exclusive home for live video streaming of KHSAA Championship events, with live championship coverage of 11 events, and post-event highlight packages provided for six other sports and sport-activities. 11/22/13 – On-Demand Printing For KHSAA Championship Programs
Updated commemorative copies of each completed KHSAA fall championship event are now available for on-demand printing through TheBookPatch.com. Full color and black-and-white versions of this year’s championship programs (Golf, Cross Country, Soccer and Volleyball) are all available for purchase.
Commemorative editions of each championship program from the 2012-13 season are also available through TheBookPatch.com, along with the 2013-14 KHSAA Events Calendar and 2013-14 Handbook.

04/22/2013 – Minimum Number of Meets Increased for Postseason
At the April 15, 2013 Board of Control Meeting the board voted to increase the number of meets required for student-athletes to compete in the postseason. Beginning with the 2014-2015 school year, the minimum number of meets a student-athlete must compete in during the regular season to be eligible for the postseason has been increased from two to four.
02/21/13 – Updated Swimming and Diving Information in Regards to Weather
There have been a few weather reports suggesting the possibility of bad weather in the Northern part of the state for Thursday, February 21, 2013. At this point in time the 2012-2013 Pannell Swim Shop/KHSAA Swimming and Diving State Championship will go on as scheduled with no plans for delay or rescheduling. If there is any change in plans we will post this information on our website. Thank you.
02/20/13 – Swimming and Diving Program and Heat Sheet Information
The program and Friday’s preliminary heat sheet for the 2013 Pannell Swim Shop/KHSAA Swimming and Diving State Championship is now posted online. Refer to the State Meet Information Instructions section on the KHSAA Swimming and Diving portion of the website to access this information. In addition there will be sheets posted throughout the event facility with links and QR codes to the program and heat sheets.
Saturday’s heat sheets will be posted online at the conclusion of Friday’s preliminaries.

PANNELL SWIM SHOP/KHSAA SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS WEEK IN LOUISVILLE
The 2013 Pannell Swim Shop/KHSAA Swimming and Diving State Championships will be held this week (Feb. 21-23) at the Ralph Wright Natatorium on the campus of the University of Louisville.
Tickets to the event are $10 per person for each session, with the exception of the opening session on Thursday night ($5 per person). Ralph Wright Natatorium has a seating capacity of 500 people for each session of the meet. Due to the limited seating capacity, fans are encouraged to arrive early to purchase tickets. Each customer will only be allowed to purchase a ticket for those persons in line, with kids 10-and-under admitted for free. At the conclusion of each session, spectators will be required to vacate the seating area.

2013 Ebonite/KHSAA Bowling Championships This Week
The 2013 Ebonite/KHSAA Bowling State Championships will take place this week (Feb 7-8) at Executive Strike and Spare in Louisville. The two-day event begins Thursday, Feb. 7 with the Singles Championship. Doors open to the public at 9:15 a.m., with player introductions starting at 9:45 a.m. The field will be narrowed to the top eight individuals (boys and girls) at 12:10 p.m., with an awards ceremony scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
Friday’s Team Championship begins with team introductions at 7:30 a.m. The girls’ team qualifying games will commence at 7:50 a.m., with the final team match slated for 12:15 p.m. The boys’ team competition is scheduled to begin at 1:35 p.m., with the championship match set for 5:15 p.m.

07/15/12 – Reminder about Case BL-25-14 (Open Gym/Field), Out of Season Restrictions
Case BL-25-14- What are the restrictions during the school year outside of the defined Limitation of Seasons (off-season) when the school’s team members are participants or school coaches are involved?
Coaching is defined as any activity by the coach at a time the athletes are participating in skills (either preparatory or specific to that sport) in a setting in which skills are taught, refined, or practiced. Coincident participation by a coach and an athlete in a sport such as a golf outing, where the coach and athlete(s) are not entered as a entry or group, or in an activity such as distance running with many runners but no direct coaching, would not specifically be considered coaching.
