REMINDER ABOUT PARTICIPATION AND TITLE IX REPORTS

Last week, each member school was sent a notice from Assistant Commissioner Darren Bilberry about the opening of the data entry for the Title IX and Participation Report processes. These annual reports are due by April 30. In case you were on spring break and somehow cannot place that email, the information is located at https://khsaa.org/4-6-23-2022-2023-title-ix-annual-report-and-participation-list-submission/.

In addition, we wanted to remind you about two recognition programs that are widely used by the membership and ensure that you take advantage of those programs.

REMINDER TO SINGLE-GENDER SCHOOLS ABOUT PARTICIPATION LISTING

Our handful of single-gender schools that are exempt from the Title IX reports continue to be required to submit the Annual Participation Report.

  • Once you are ready (and by April 30), you need to do the roster review functions of the annual submission on the schools.khsaa.org login page.
  • You will then click on the bar labeled “Title IX/Participation List Entry”
  • Then, select “Enter School Title IX/Participation List Information for 2022-2023”.
  • You will then see the option in Red labeled “Enter School Title IX/Participation List Information for 2022-2023”
  • Once you have performed the roster review, you will be able to select “Participation List” and complete your Annual Participation List, including saving a copy if you need it.
  • An instructional video on how to do the Roster Review has been recorded by our IT Director and School System Liaison Rob Catron, and it is located at https://youtu.be/vitVVI_9e7E?t=249.
  • Contact Rob at rcatron@khsaa.org if you have further questions on performing these functions.

ACADEMIC ALL-STATE PROGRAM
Again this year, the process for the presentation of the Academic All-State Awards is automated through the KHSAA school subsystem and is sponsored by UK HealthCare, a proud KHSAA corporate partner.

  • Within the KHSAA online system, you can, through your roster management screens, select the athletes and print those certificates for these worthy athletes.
  • Keep in mind the criteria, which have been unchanged for many years, is a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 (on a four-point scale) for designation as “Honorable Mention”, and a 3.75 cumulative average on a four-point scale for designation as “First Team.”
  • The awards are based on cumulative grade point averages from the time of enrollment in ninth grade and are given only to varsity participants, and only to participants who are enrolled in grades nine through twelve.
  • Behind the scenes, we are tracking the number of students selected, and on the Wednesday following Memorial Day will be issuing a school-by-school listing of the number of students being named First Team and Honorable Mention Academic All-State.
  • This school-by-school listing will generate good publicity for both the program and your school.
  • There will be no amendments made to the announcement following its release so this is your last chance.
  • Please note that because this represents the release of a form of academic records, we will not list the individual names, but you are free to do so within the context of your own district and school policies.
  • An instructional video on how to select the athletes has been recorded by our IT Director and School System Liaison Rob Catron, and it is located at https://youtu.be/hcM1XUvP8g0.
  • Contact Rob at rcatron@khsaa.org if you have further questions on performing these functions.

TRIPLE THREAT AWARDS
Instituted in 2018, the Triple Threat Award honors student-athletes who participate in at least one KHSAA championship sport

  • To be considered for the award, the student must compete on the varsity roster of a sport or sport-activity for a team in each of the three sports seasons.
  • For this award, the fall sports are Cross Country, Field Hockey, Football, Golf, Soccer, and Volleyball; the Winter sports are Basketball, Bowling, Competitive Cheer, Dance, Swimming and Diving, Wrestling and Esports Fall/Winter Season; and the Spring Sports are Archery, Baseball, Bass Fishing, Softball, Tennis, Track and Field and Esports Spring.
  • The awards are based solely on each member school’s rosters that were submitted through the KHSAA’s online system, as that is the only permitted determinant for athletic eligibility (including team eligibility).
  • These are calculated automatically based on your participation lists that were submitted on April 30.
  • If you have not completed any portion of your Title IX report and Participation List, this will be your last chance to be included in this announcement as well.
  • Also on the Wednesday following Memorial Day, we will be issuing a school-by-school listing of the number of students being named winners of the award as well as individual student listings.
  • If you have not completed any portion of your Title IX report and Participation List, this will be your last chance to be included in this announcement as well.
  • An instructional video of this program has also been recorded by our IT Director and School System Liaison Rob Catron and is located at https://youtu.be/Jq5_Rr5o0Qk.
  • Contact Rob at rcatron@khsaa.org if you have further questions on performing these functions.

Thank you and finish the year strong!
