05/29/14 – Soccer Referee’s Advanced Camp
The Advanced Camp for Soccer referees will again be held in conjunction with the Bluegrass State Games. We will be taking applications for this camp beginning today. Camp is scheduled for July 25 & 26 and will cost $55 (officials will be compensated for each match officiated by the BGSG).
As in the past, participants will be housed in a dorm on the UK campus (at no cost) through the BGSG organization. For information on the camp, visit our Soccer page on the KHSAA website: http://www.khsaa.org/soccer/campbrochure.pdf

05/21/14 – Officials Licensing for 2014-2015
This is being sent to all previously licensed KHSAA officials:
Registration for all officials is now available by clicking the “Officials Login” button at the top of the main KHSAA website, http://www.khsaa.org/. The total registration fee for officials is unchanged from the rates for 2013-2014.
The initial registration deadline for the 2014-2015 school year (July 1 to June 30) is midnight on June 30. After June 30th, a $25 late fee will be assessed until August 14th. Beginning August 15th, a $50 late fee will be accessed AND officials who miss the initial deadline to register will be prohibited from participating in the postseason in those levels of sports or sport-activities where late licensing officials are specifically prohibited from assignment.
If you choose to mail the information form and include a check to the KHSAA there will again be an additional $10 charge.

Registration for the 2014 KHSAA Volleyball Officials Camps is now open. There will be two camps this year. This camp must be attended once every four years to be eligible for assignment to officiate region or state tournaments beginning in 2014.

We will provide a coaches box for pole vault coaches this year at UK. The pole vault coach must be a qualified coach in accordance with Bylaw 23, and also must have taken the PVSCB required course. The pole vault coach must sign-in to receive this additional credential at the check-in tent in the admission area. The credential must be visible at all times.

05/21/14 – Tennis Final Alignment
During its meeting at the KHSAA Office on May 12th, the Board of Control voted to approve an amended alignment proposal to be in effect for the 2014-15 school year. The staff at the KHSAA had been in discussions with various member schools concerning the proposed alignment of Tennis beginning in 2014-2015. Based upon the information gathered and feedback received, rather than a major overhaul of the alignment, a few adjustments to the alignment were made. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 14, 2014
The 2014 KHSAA Tennis State Championships (May 14-17) begin tonight at 5 p.m. with the boys’ and girls’ team semifinals at the University of Kentucky’s Boone/Downing Tennis Complex. The team finals will take place Thursday evening at the UK Boone/Downing Tennis Complex with the boys’ team finals starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by the girls’ team title match at 6:30 p.m.
Boys’ and Girls’ Singles and Doubles bracket play begins Thursday morning at 8 a.m., with the boys’ competition at UK Boone/Downing Tennis Complex, and the girls’ matches at Shillito Park. Both the girls and boys will compete at the UK Boone/Downing Tennis Complex on Friday and Saturday, with the doubles championships slated for 1 p.m. and the singles championships scheduled for 3 p.m. Admission is charged on Friday and Saturday only, with a full-day pass available for $10.

05/13/14 – Board of Control Approves Future Championship Sites, Football Alignment

During Tuesday’s scheduled meeting at the KHSAA Office, the Board of Control awarded the girls’ basketball state tournament to the Bank of Kentucky Center and Northern Kentucky University for 2016 and 2017, while extending the stay of the Worth/KHSAA Softball State Tournament at Jack C. Fisher Park in Owensboro for four more years (2015-18). 05/13/14 – Board of Control Adopts Football Alignment for 2015-2018
This is being sent to all Principals, Superintendents and Athletic Directors of KHSAA Football Playing Schools. The Board of Control today adopted the final alignment of teams for the 2015-2018 playing seasons. That alignment is listed at http://goo.gl/rZfNWC. With this action, the moratorium on scheduling and contracts is lifted, and schools may engage and negotiate final agreements. In a related matter, the Board of Control established the pairings for 2015 ONLY for Class 6A to mirror the other classes, and will continue discussion and deliberation on postseason pairings at future meetings. Multiple member schools in Class 5A had made a request to begin playoff pairing rotation, but this issue will not be addressed until a further determination is made regarding Class 6A.

With the long range forecast of possible showers on Thursday, now is a good time to remind you of how we plan to communicate any changes as to location and/or time schedules for the Boys and Girls Tennis Tournaments. We expect the first round participants to report to their site and if we have to move indoors we will give instructions at that location for those participants. Second, we will use the Tennis page of the KHSAA website to post any “TENNIS HOT NEWS”. So please check there first (http://khsaa.org/sports/spring/tennis/). 05/12/14 – State Track Meet Information Now Posted
Final information the state meet, including team instructions and UK maps for parking, bus routes, facilities and driving directions have been posted on the track page of the khsaa.org website. Please visit this page immediately and print out any information you might need.
Items that have previously been posted include, host hotel information, time schedule, and qualifying standards.
For newer coaches, there is no paperwork that needs to be filled out and turned in for the state competition. All regional paperwork has been/will be forwarded to this office along with the results. Your next step is to wait for the performance listing for state to be sent out (Sunday, May 18th) and check to see that your students have qualified, etc. More instruction will come with the notification on that Sunday.

Now that some of our regional championships have completed, it is time you begin making plans for the State Tennis Championships here in Lexington. Coaches, please review the links to information about the Tennis tournament found on the Tennis page of the KHSAA website (http://khsaa.org/sports/spring/tennis/). The documents will be updated each day as information is added.
- Hotel accommodations: With the SEC Track Championships being held the same weekend as our Championships, you should be calling now for reservations. The University Inn Hotel (859-278-6625) is holding 25 rooms at a set rate for KHSAA Tennis teams and is located across the street from the UK Campus. Other hotels are available, but you may have to research for the best rates.
